Introduction Page

To make getting started as easy as possible, we've included the complete User's Guide on-line, as well as several example pages... Please note that these links will not work until you have installed NetCloak in your web server root folder. See the ReadMe file for information about NetCloak and installation instructions.

  • A NetCloak Overview - This is a page that describes and demonstrates some of the basic commands available within NetCloak .

  • NetCloak User's Guide - The complete User's Guide is in HTML, so just follow this link for full installation and configuration instructions, as well as a complete reference to all of NetCloak's command tags.

  • NetCloak Pro User's Guide - Describes additional installation instructions, configuration options, and other features specific to NetCloak Pro.

  • Purchasing NetCloak - NetCloak provides tremendous Web site power with the ease of use you expect from the Macintosh. If you've evaluated NetCloak and decided it's for you, you can order a registration key by phone, by fax, or over the Web.

More Examples:

  • The Opinion Poll - Here is a demo that shows how to use counters and variables to implement an opinion poll. It also shows how to "grade" user entered forms for quizzes and tests.

  • SampleCo - Here's a "real world" example of NetCloak in action. We've created a home page for the fictional company "SampleCo" with counters, macros, and a randomized link to other real cloaked sites.

  • A Loaded Page - Here is a page that uses almost all of the commands available in NetCloak.

  • Configuration Page - This page shows you how NetCloak commands can examine and modify NetCloak's configuration settings.

  • Check Passwords - To see this page, you'll need to enter the username "Net" and the password "Cloak".

  • Site Manager - This page is password restricted for use only by a system administrator. It has site usage statistics and "preferences" that dynamically change the site. For access enter a username of "NetCloak" and a password of "Rocks".

  • Register KillerApp - Here's a one-page portable demonstration that presents a three-step process for registering your copy of that mythical software product, KillerApp. It demonstrates the use of macros, user variables, local variables, global variables, and search arguments.

NetCloak Pro Examples:

These examples demonstrate the additional forms-processing features available in NetCloak Pro. A couple of notes about these examples:
  • Sometimes, menu pages don't appear to update properly, even after you click the "Reload" button. When this occurs, Netscape users can try performing a "Super Reload" of the page -- hold down either the shift or option key as you click the "Reload" button.

  • Pages that don't update, or appear to be "chopped off" at the bottom, can also be caused by WebSTAR's File Info cache. Maxum recommends setting the size of the WebSTAR File Info cache to zero (thus disabling it). The File Info Cache size is set in the "Misc. Settings" dialog in WebSTAR Admin 2.1, and in the "Cache" panel of the "Server Settings" dialog in WebSTAR Admin 3.0.

  • Formatting in the example pages is kept as simple as possible, in order to make reading the HTML easy. They are designed to demonstrate the proper use of NetForms commands, so we've avoided using fancy page layouts and graphic elements that would distract you. In your own pages, of course, you are free to add all the design elements you need to make your web site attractive as well as interactive.

CREATEDOC Examples

  • The Classifieds - This demo implements a Classified Ad system, where people can post ads for various items.

  • Build A Home Page - Don't want to teach everyone in your organization HTML? Use this system to allow people to create their own pages.

  • Recipes - This is a great place to get started with NetForms, because it's a very simple example. It also shows off the new VERIFY directive.

  • Feedback - The Feedback forum is a fairly comprehensive system for allowing users to give feedback on an Internet site using a BBS-style threaded message forum.

INSERTFILE Examples

  • GuestBook - A place for people to "sign in" to your Web site and let others see who has been visiting.

  • Feedback PLUS - This is the Feedback demo revised to include the responses directly in the original article (using INSERTFILE). It also shows how to simplify the response file using HTMLFILENAME in a hidden field.

TEXTSTORE Example

  • Mailing List - This is an example of how you can use NetForms to store data in an ascii file for importing into another application or database.

SENDMAIL Example

  • Send Mail - Here is a mail demo that shows off all of NetCloak's SENDMAIL features. You can select multiple email recipients, and invalid form data is rejected.

Other Examples

  • MetaSearch - This example demonstrates the REPLACE_URL command. It automatically builds links to the most popular search engines with the search text you specify in the form. Clicking these links in the response page shows you each engine's matches.

  • EXEC_FDML - A quick demonstration of the EXEC_FDML command for use in cloaked pages. It sends an email message every time the page is accessed.

  • Mail Action Demo - In order to see this example work, you must set up a "Mail Action" that triggers execution of the file "MailActionDemo.fdml", located in the "MailActionDemo" folder. See the NetCloak Pro User's Guide for more information.
